Creating dashboards with AI SRE
AI SRE can build and manage Better Stack dashboards for you. Simply ask it to "create a dashboard for API performance" or "build a dashboard for our Redis instances" in a new chat.
When creating a new dashboard, AI SRE can:
- Start from scratch with just a name.
- Use a pre-built template, such as Hosts, Services, or service-specific templates like PostgreSQL.
- Pre-configure the dashboard for a specific metrics source.
- Place the new dashboard in a resource group.
Creating charts
For each chart, AI SRE determines the most appropriate chart type, writes the necessary SQL, and adds a helpful description that appears in the chart's tooltip. It also picks appropriate units automatically—such as bytes, percentages, milliseconds, or events-per-second.
When you ask AI SRE to create a single visualization, it appears as a live preview in the chat. You can then click Add to dashboard to add it to an existing dashboard.
When you ask AI SRE to build an entire dashboard, charts are added directly to the new dashboard without a separate preview step.
Adjusting layout
AI SRE can also manage the dashboard layout. You can ask it to:
- Reorganize charts: "Move all the memory charts to the top."
- Create sections: "Split this dashboard into Compute, Storage, and Network sections."
- Rename or remove items.
Charts are placed on a 12-column grid, and AI SRE can perform bulk actions to rearrange multiple charts at once.
