Using the app with Uptime

If you'd like to get notified right away on your mobile device, you're at the right place. By configuring the push notifications, you can immediately get an incident notification with our iOS and Android apps. Sounds good? Let's share the how-to steps.

Connecting iOS and Android apps

  1. Go to Integrations → Exporting data and select the app you want to configure. Alternatively, you can download it directly from Google Play or App store.
  2. Once downloaded, connect the app to your account via the QR code that can be found in your Account settings -> Alerts by scanning it within your app.

Configuring the push notifications on your monitors

After you've configured your mobile device as a receiver, you also need to include push notifications in your monitor's settings.

You can do that by going to the monitor's configuration → On-call escalation → When there's a new incident → Push notification.

Using Advanced escalation policies?

You can also configure the Severities to further specify how to use the notification channels.

Android app notifications & overriding Do Not Disturb

Focusing on deep work or in a meeting, but want to get alerted when something goes wrong?

Allow Incident started notifications to override Do Not Disturb:

  • Open the app.
  • Click on the dots on the right side.
  • Select Configure notifications.
  • Select Incident started.
  • Enable the Override Do Not Disturb option.

Repeat the steps to allow Incident acknowledged, Incident resolved, and other notifications to override Do Not Disturb.

You can also use the notification settings to customize which notifications you want to receive and how they should behave.

Are you on Samsung's Android 14?

Then head to the Settings -> And look for Do not disturb permission. There, find Better Stack and turn on the DnD Override.

Cannot find it? Then navigate to Settings -> Apps -> 3 dots -> Special Access -> Do not disturb permission -> Better Stack and enable DnD Override there.

iOS app notifications & Critical alerts

Focusing on deep work or in a meeting, but want to get alerted when something goes wrong?

The Uptime iOS app has been issued a special entitlement to Critical alerts, which allow the app to ignore the mute switch and Do Not Disturb mode.

The system plays a critical alert's sound regardless of the device's mute or Do Not Disturb settings. How to enable it?

  • Open the app.
  • Click on the dots on the right side.
  • Select Configure notifications.
  • Find the option Critical alerts and enable it.

Furthermore, you can also select the type of notifications you'd like to receive, enable/disable the sound, etc.
