New Relic: an "always on" SRE Agent, still mostly in preview
New Relic's SRE Agent, introduced in February 2026, is designed as an always-on teammate that begins diagnosing an incident before an engineer has acknowledged the page, querying traces, reviewing logs, checking recent deployments, and producing a root cause hypothesis. The Agentic Platform adds a no-code agent builder, orchestration, an evaluation engine, and MCP support. The caveat is maturity: the SRE Agent, much of the Agentic Platform, and the MCP server remain in preview.
Sematext: an MCP server, AI Agent Watch, and anomaly detection
Sematext's AI story has moved quickly, and the older assumption that it has none is out of date. It now ships an MCP server that connects an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT to your observability data, letting it list your Apps, search logs, review host and container health, query metrics, and inspect which alerts fired so it can correlate across App types, with setup taking under five minutes. Alongside it, Sematext has added AI Agent Watch for keeping an eye on AI agent activity and an AI-assisted OpenTelemetry onboarding skill that helps instrument services faster. What Sematext does not yet have is an autonomous SRE agent that investigates an incident on its own the way New Relic's is designed to. Neither platform is a security product, but their compliance and deployment stories differ in ways that matter for procurement.
New Relic holds SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA on Data Plus, and FedRAMP Moderate with expansion to High underway, and includes SSO via Okta, Azure, and Google, SCIM provisioning, RBAC, and audit logs at the enterprise tier.
