The two companies run at different heights of the stack and under different flags, and both facts matter.

OVHcloud hosts your application. Cloudflare stands in front of your application. What each credit can buy

Both credits come with real restrictions, and knowing them prevents an expensive surprise.

OVHcloud's vouchers are redeemable for Public Cloud and Hosted Private Cloud, so they run your servers and managed services. Two limits matter: eligible GPU instances are restricted to older generations, the V100, V100S, and RTX 5000, and bare metal, despite being OVHcloud's signature product, cannot be paid with credits at all. The credit is large and broad, but narrow on the newest hardware.

Cloudflare's credits apply to its edge and serverless catalog: Workers, R2, D1, Pages, and the CDN and security layer, with sub-caps of $50,000 on Workers AI and $10,000 on R2 plus Cache Reserve. There are no GPUs to rent, and Workers AI runs inference only on Cloudflare-hosted models, so you cannot train or self-host a model. None of the credit will run an application backend.

OVHcloud runs two 12-month levels with no partner requirement. Start gives €10,000 in credit plus 6 hours of one-on-one engineer time, and Scale offers up to €100,000 plus up to 20 engineer hours. Eligibility is a size test rather than an investor test: a tech company under five years old, with fewer than 50 employees and revenue below €10M, and the program is global through regional entities.

Cloudflare offers up to $250,000 across four tiers, valid for one year or until consumed. A bootstrapped startup can claim $5,000 directly and $25,000 with early funding, but the $100,000 and $250,000 tiers require an approved VC or accelerator. It accepts almost any technology company under about ten years old with a verifiable product and social presence, and excludes agencies, consultancies, blogs, MSPs, and resellers.

So an unaffiliated startup can reach OVHcloud's full €100,000 on merit and size alone, while Cloudflare's largest amounts stay behind an investor relationship.

When you actually need both

Because the credits pay for different layers, the strongest setup for many startups is not one of these but the pair.

Run your application on OVHcloud, on European hardware you can point a compliance team at, and put Cloudflare in front of it for global delivery, DDoS protection, and a web application firewall. The credits do not overlap, so claiming both spends nothing twice, and the combination gives you a sovereign, GPU-capable backend behind one of the world's largest edge networks. If your product is latency-sensitive or a frequent target, that front layer is worth having regardless of where the app is hosted.
