Technical Recruiter
The challenge
At Better Stack, we pilot a startup rocket ship aiming for the moons of unicorns. With millions in ARR, thousands of customers, and hundreds of thousands of engineers already using us, we are on the right way toward $100M ARR.
On our path there, we're building a dream team of highly talented, skilled, yet humble people. We share Tobi Lütke's perspective: "Life is best lived by working hard, solving difficult problems, surrounded by friends." We don't believe in scaling the size of the team blindly. At the same time, in order to succeed in our mission of helping developers build better software faster, we'll need more incredible colleagues to join us on the ride. Getting these smart yet humble colleagues on board will be your daily bread and butter. We need your help with assembling some of the world's best people to execute against the company's mission.
What you'll do
- Scout for new talented colleagues, coordinate interviews, and be the candidate's voice throughout the company.
- Talk to a lot of new people (we're aiming at ~20-25 intro chats/week) interested in the prospect of working with us.
- Work directly with both of our co-founders, our CTO, and more teammates on bringing the very best people on board in Prague, Czech Republic, or remotely in GMT±3.
- Be in charge of creating 11-star candidate experiences.
- Craft extraordinary employer branding and make the company an obvious interview choice for talented candidates going forward.
- A great startup culture needs to be founder-driven. You'll be the fail-safe to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
This might be for you if
- You enjoy pitching a candidate the mission, culture, product, or our work style.
- You would not be afraid of running a script in the terminal (we can teach you that) or discussing with engineering candidates why we don't care if they worked with a completely different tech stack until now.
- You do enjoy Talent or HR because you see it as a driving force in the business.
- You consider yourself a full-stack recruiter who manages all the aspects of recruiting, from sourcing to conducting intro calls with candidates, coordinating all stages of the interview process, and helping to extend the offer or provide the candidate with valuable feedback.
- You don't hesitate to do a lot of outbound and are not only waiting for candidates to apply on their own.
- You enjoy delighting candidates throughout the process by being fast, transparent, energetic, and kind.
- You have the builder's mindset! 🧑🔧 There's plenty of stuff we're doing already, but a lot more we could be doing in the future in terms of talent acquisition.
- You are curious. You enjoy checking the latest trends and never miss an opportunity to read a good book, listen to a podcast episode, or watch a talk on talent or startup-related topics and eventually discuss that later with your colleagues.
Who you'll work with
A team of smart and talented colleagues who are extraordinary at what they do and collaborate together to build an amazing product. Namely:
- Zbynek is currently the 1-man army in all things talent-related at Better Stack. He's already experienced a couple of (early-stage) startups and learned by both failing forward as well as helping to scale one of the three unicorns with Czech roots: Productboard. And together with you, he's ready to help Better Stack become the love brand in observability.
- Juraj & Veronika, both of our co-founders, are still very much hands-on and close to hiring every new colleague who joins the team. One of them is usually managing the process of extending an offer to the candidate. They're the kind of founders who do not only say the company is only as good as the people within the company; they act on it and are always ready to help bring more talented teammates on board. Both of them still interview all the candidates too, of course.
- Tomas (CTO), Jenda (Head of Growth), and Annie (Head of Customer Team) – all three of them are engaged in sourcing, interviewing, and extending the offers.
Where to go next?
- Read about what it's like to work here – feel the atmosphere, understand the culture.
- Read more about how we how we think about software engineering. It's quite different to other companies! (Most of the principles we describe there apply to other parts of the company as well 😉)
- We raised over $28M since we started, turned profitable last year, and are now taking on the developer tools industry.
- Get to know us through the lens of our investors from Creandum (also invested in Spotify, Bolt, or Klarna).
