## Configuring notifications in the app

Open the app and tap **Settings** in the bottom menu. You can configure two main notification types:

* **Push notifications**: Receive regular alerts.
* **Critical alerts**: Receive high-priority alerts that can bypass silent mode and Do Not Disturb.

You can also customize:

* **Notification sound** and **Critical alert sound**: Choose from a library of alert sounds.
* **Bypass silent mode**: Allow critical alerts to play sound even when your phone is on silent or Do Not Disturb.
* **Override system volume**: Ensure critical alerts are loud enough to wake you up.

#### iOS critical alerts permission

When you enable critical alerts for the first time on iOS, the app will prompt you to allow them at the system level. You can also enable this manually in iOS **Settings** → **Apps** → **Better Stack** → **Notifications** → **Critical Alerts**.

## Are you on Samsung's Android 14?
To allow alerts to bypass Do Not Disturb, go to **Settings** -> **Apps** -> **3 dots** -> **Special Access** -> **Do not disturb permission** -> **Better Stack** and enable the override.
