# incident.io & Better Stack integration

Create incident.io alerts from your Better Stack incidents. When an incident opens, Better Stack notifies an incident.io alert source, and acknowledging or resolving the alert in incident.io syncs the status back to Better Stack.

## Connect incident.io and Better Stack

1. Go to **Integrations** → [Exporting data](https://incidents.betterstack.com/team/0/integrations/exporting-data ";_blank").
2. Find the **incident.io** card and click **Add**.
3. Name your integration so you can recognize it later.

### Get the alert source URL from incident.io

In the [incident.io dashboard](https://app.incident.io ";_blank"):

1. Go to **On-call → Alert routing**.
2. Click **Sources** → **Create source**.
3. Below the list of sources, click **Connect via HTTP** → **Continue**.
4. Open the **Query authentication** tab and copy the **URL**.

### Finish in Better Stack

1. Paste the URL into **Alert source URL**.
2. Click **Save changes**.

Better Stack now posts to your incident.io alert source whenever an incident is created, resolved, or reopened. Click **Send a test alert** on the integration to confirm the connection.

## Acknowledge and resolve incidents from incident.io

Keep the incident status in sync by letting incident.io call back when an alert is acknowledged or resolved. This step is optional and needs the incident.io Team plan.

After you save the integration, Better Stack shows a webhook endpoint URL for it. In the incident.io dashboard:

1. Go to **Settings → Webhooks**.
2. Click **Add Endpoint**.
3. Paste in the endpoint URL from Better Stack.
4. Under **Subscribe to events**, select `public_alert.alert_resolved_v1` and `public_escalation.escalation_status_updated_v1`.
5. Click **Create**.

To acknowledge incidents from incident.io, escalate this alert source in an alert route under **On-call → Alert routing → Routes**.

## Manage the integration

Open the integration from **Integrations** → **Exporting data** to:

- **Send a test alert** to check the connection end to end.
- **Pause** the integration to stop posting to incident.io without removing it.
- **Configure** its name, alert source URL, and who to notify.
- **Remove** the integration when you no longer need it.

Give the integration its own escalation policy to route, filter, or silence incidents before they page your team. See [Processing alerts from integrations](https://betterstack.com/docs/uptime/processing-alerts-for-integrations/).
