# Adding a system status announcement

A system status announcement is a short message that appears at the top of your status page. It's a great way of sharing new updates with your audience.

### Adding a system status announcement to your status page:
- Go to **Status pages**.
- Select the status page you want to add a status announcement to.
- Go to **Advanced settings**.
- Type your system status announcement into the text field.
- Click **Save changes**.

Note: the announcement is removed once the text field is empty.
